Autopilots

These electronic wonders make navigation (especially for long trips) easy. Just program in your waypoint or end destination and the boat will drive itself. Now just sit back and enjoy the ride. Of course you should continue to watch out for other water craft, weather conditions and any floating debris. Auto pilots also hold a more accurate course than most operators can manually hold. This reduces travel time and cuts down a bit on fuel costs. While not a mandatory piece of equipment, when coupled with a depth recorder, chart recorder, GPS and radar a autopilot will enhance the power boat cruising experience.  Please check out links on this page to find a variety of units for both power and sailboats.
